Seasons By Tricia Bruce

He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully”. ~ Proverbs 10:5

Every season we experience each year has a specific purpose. As followers of Christ, we should be reassured that the Lord we serve is always present, regardless of the season. Currently we are in the midst of our summer season… This season brings to mind the cool summer treats, vacations, family reunions and more. Most importantly we are encouraged to remember year round how amazing the Lord is.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the Word in reference to this current season; Luke 21:29-30 (KJV) says “And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand”. During the transition from spring to summer we are given signs when summer is near, as shown in the book of Luke.

He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully. ~Proverbs 10:5 (KJV). This scripture is a clear reminder that it is important to prepare for the next season. For instance farmers plant strawberries during a specific season so they can harvest during the early months during the summer season. A harvest cannot be reaped if the strawberries are not planted during spring when the ground can be cultivated. It is wise to plant certain seeds during the spring in order to reap during the summer.

All seasons serve a specific purpose in our lives. It is encouraging to know that we serve a faithful Savior who is available throughout each season we transition through. Whether it is Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, the Lord is ever present. In Psalm 91:1 (KJV) we are reminded that, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
